Winter Weather Advisory In Effect For Fairfield With Snow, Ice Arriving

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Fairfield County from midnight through 6 p.m. Saturday in anticipation of an icy and snowy weekend storm.

Snow is expected to begin early Saturday with the heaviest precipitation occurring in the late morning and early afternoon, the National Weather Service said. Sleet and freezing rain will likely mix with the snow during these times.

Snow will taper off in the the evening. Total accumulations of snow will be 4 to 6 inches with a tenth of an inch of ice inland and 3 to 5 inches of snow along the coastline with a layer of ice as well. 

Road conditions on Saturday are expected to be dangerous due to the precipitation. Motorists are reminded to exercise caution if they must travel. 

The system is expected to move out of the area quickly by late Saturday, with dry and seasonable conditions on Sunday. 

The advisory is in effect for northeast New Jersey, the lower Hudson Valley and most of Southern Connecticut.
