She was born Dec. 16, 1932, to Gerald and Sally Mercurio Malafronte in Bridgeport.
Lawless earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and French from Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in 1954.
She worked at Fairfield University's Nyselius Library from 1977-97, and continued to be active in the University's Retirees Association.
Survivors include her husband, Richard “Dick” Lawless; two sons, Richard and Sean (Bridget) Lawless; one daughter, Karen (Tommy) Szabo; two sisters, Sally Malafronte and Marjorie (Jim) Mills; eight grandchildren; five nieces; and many cousins.
One brother, Jerry, is deceased.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, St. Luke's Catholic Church, 84 Long Lots Road, Westport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maryknoll Sisters, P.O. Box 311, Maryknoll, NY 10545-0311.
