Alfred Gallucci, 84, of Fairfield, Ex-Bank Chairman

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Alfred J. Gallucci of Fairfield died June 27 at his home, surrounded by family. He was 84. 

Born April 1, 1928, in Bridgeport, he was the son of Edward and Laura Grasso Gallucci. Growing up in Bridgeport, Gallucci was president of his senior class at Central High School when he graduated in 1946. 

He attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and graduated in 1950 with a degree in civil engineering. After college, Gallucci returned to Bridgeport and worked at Grasso Construction Company, the family sand and gravel business in Shelton. He eventually became president of the company. 

Gallucci later served as director and vice chairman of North American Bank of Waterbury and as a partner of EED Partners, the producers of EE Dickinson Witch Hazel in Essex, Conn.

He also served as chairman of the Greater Bridgeport Selective Service Board, for which he received a certificate from the president of the U.S. in 1974. Galluci was an honorary director of St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport. 

An avid golfer, he was a former member of the Mill River Country Club in Stratford and a longtime member of Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield.  

Gallucci is survived by four daughters, Cara Gallucci, of Hull, Mass., Madeline Monde, of Westport, Dr. Adrianne Gallucci-Breithaupt, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Martha Tripodi, of Fairfield; a sister, Angela Cenatempo, of Trumbull; two stepsons, Michael Hoyt and Robert Hoyt; two stepdaughters, Michelle Kirkpatrick and Lisa Lawrence; three grandchildren. He also survived by his former wife, Holly Riccio Gallucci, of Westport; and his companion of many years, Judy Goler, of Fort Lee, N.J. He was predeceased by his second wife, Joan Hoyt Gallucci. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Margaret's Shrine in Bridgeport. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home in Fairfield Center.
