FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Alphonso Vincent Senese (Al) of Fairfield, and West Palm Beach, Fla., died Sunday, Aug. 18. He was 100.
Senese was born Oct. 15, 1912, in Naples, Italy and emigrated with his parents Antony and Teresa Viola Senese, his grandmother and his two sisters to Bridgeport. He was a self-made man who became an accountant and then an entrepreneur, owning Senese Manufacturing Co., Inc. for 50 years in the area
With his first wife Florence Pucci Senese he raised a family and they lived in Fairfield. He was one of the founding members and president of the Italian Community Center of Bridgeport, in the late 1960's. He received his Bachelor's degree from Sacred Heart University at the age of 60. He also taught Italian literature there for a short time.
Senese is survived by his wife, Juliette; children, Marianne Senese Depuis (Trygve) of Oslo Norway, Patricia Rademacher (John) of Bethlehem, N.H., Francine Merhill (Joseph) of Seymour, Roberta Hayes, and her life partner, Mike Smart of Las Vegas, Nev., Monica Marchese (Anthony) of West Hartford, and Alfred Anthony Senese, of Corning, N.Y.; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and brother, Harry Senese. He was predeceased by his first wife, Florence Pucci Senese; and siblings, Ozzie Senese, Edith Dellamarggio, Mary Dapp, Robert Senese, Alfred Senese, Ann Guerrera, Jo Willard, Kay Dellamargio.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 9 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Fairfield, CT at 10 a.m. Burial to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
