Amy Wilson Nessel, 46, Of Fairfield, Counselor At Ludlowe Middle School

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Amy Wilson Nessel, 46, of Fairfield died Tuesday, May 26. She had battled breast cancer for 5 ½ years.

The daughter of David and Judy Nessel, she was born in New York City and spent most of her life in Fairfield.

She attended Fairfield Public Schools and graduated in 1986 from Roger Ludlowe High School. She graduated from Wittenberg University and received her master’s degree in counseling and mental health from Lesley College in Boston. She was a school counselor at Roger Ludlowe Middle School and was influential in the lives of many young students and their parents. She was an avid tennis player and volunteered for several local agencies committed to eradicating cancer.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, Sawyer Nessel; her brother, Paul; and her grandmother, Dorothy Nessel.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 13, at 3 p.m. at Trinity Church in Southport.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends to make memorial donations to: The Connecticut Challenge, the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Cancer Center or Trinity Church, Southport.
