FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Betty Cashavelly Balamaci died Aug. 10. She was 94.

Balamaci was born in 1920 in Blackstone, Mass., to George and Sophie Cashavelly, she was a Fairfield resident for over 50 years. She was a graduate of Bassick High School, Class of 1937, and a member of the National Honor Society. She was a legal secretary in the Office of the City Attorney of Bridgeport for several years. She was a long time member of the St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church and the St. Dimitrie Ladies' Auxiliary. She was also a volunteer for several organizations.

Balamaci is survived by her daughter, Barbara Balamaci of Fairfield; sisters, Margaret Gell and Catherine Broadbin; brother, Christy Cashavelly (Cynthia); sister-in-law, Gertrude Balamaci; several nieces, nephews; and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Thomas Balamaci; son, John; and sisters, Mary Bickey, Alice Bullard, Leona Pandaru, Elizabeth Geambazi, and Constance Cashavelly.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center, with a Trisagion service taking place at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13 in St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Road, Easton, CT 06612. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.
