FAIRFIELD, Conn. - C. Brian Cheney of Fairfield died Friday, Aug. 16. He was 81.
Cheney was born in Manchester, England in 1931, son of Charles and Elsie Cheney. He was a graduate of both Palmers College in Essex, England and University of London. While in England he was a working student at Orsett Hospital, a fellow of the Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology, London and at Rush Green Hospital obtaining both Bacteriology and Hematology diplomas. He also worked in Bellville, Ontario, Canada at Bellville Hospital. He worked for 30 plus years at Park City Hospital as a Lab Manager. From 1952 to 1954 he was in the Royal Army Medical Corps stationed in Hamburg, Germany.
He was a volunteer at Calvary St. George's Episcopal Church and the Fairfield Senior Center.
Cheney is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Michael (Karen) of Monroe; daughter, Maureen Kuraska (Craig) of Monroe; three grandsons; sister, Vera Carter; several cousins; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Cyril Cheney; and sister, Joan Vernon.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 S Benson Road, Fairfield. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. meeting directly at Calvary St. George's Church, 755 Clinton Ave., Bridgeport with interment to follow.
