C. Mark Griggs, 50, Of Fairfield, Worked For Stop & Shop

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - C. Mark Griggs of Fairfield died Saturday, Sept. 27. He was 50.

Griggs was born May 15, 1964, to Charles Cady and Cleora Crego Griggs. Raised in Fairfield, he completed the town's special needs program, graduating from Andrew Warde High School in 1985.

Moving to Naples, Fla., with his parents for 27 years, he worked at Publix as a grocery bagger. He later returned to Fairfield to live with his sister, Cady. In more recent years, he resided in a CLASP group home in the Brooklawn section of Fairfield, and worked at the Stop & Shop on Kings Highway before retiring with health complications.

A member of First Church Congregational, he was also a member of Casey's Place. He was an honorary member of the Fairfield Beach Club.

Griggs is survived by his siblings, Cady Griggs Kryspin (Edmund) of Fairfield, Peter Standish (Suzanne) of Milford, Nancy LeFebvre (Lowell) of Oklahoma, and Marcia Atsaves of Virginia; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents.

A memorial celebration of his life will be held Friday, Oct. 3, at 3 p.m. in the First Church Congregational, in Fairfield, with a reception to immediately follow in the church's hall. Interment will be private.
