Carol B. Andrews, 83, Longtime Fairfield Resident

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Carol Brautigam Andrews, a longtime Fairfield resident, died Wednesday, Nov. 13. She was 83.

Andrews was born May 12, 1930, in New York City, to Karl and Harriett (Kernan) Brautigam. She moved to Old Greenwich, in 1945 and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1948. She received a BA from Middlebury College in 1952. She then moved to New York City and worked for Glamour magazine as a merchandising editor. After her marriage in 1953, she lived with her husband in the Mansion at Tod's Point in Old Greenwich (now Greenwich Point), before settling in Fairfield. In 1972, she earned her Masters in Education from the University of Bridgeport. She was a substitute teacher at elementary schools in Fairfield, before opening an antiques business in Cannondale, which she ran for two decades. 

Andrews is survived by her husband, Lee; children, Amy Andrews Blumenthal (Tom) of Riverside, Claudia Vonderheyde of Milford, Eric Andrews (Anne) of San Jose, Calif., and Emily Cotrona (Joe) of Stamford; and seven grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents.

Calling hours are Sunday, Nov. 17 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road, Fairfield.
