Catherine Dillingham, 84, Former Fairfield Resident

PEABODY, Mass. - Catherine "Cappy" (Knight) Dillingham of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of Fairfield, died Feb. 20. She was 84.

Dillingham was born in Brooklyn, and was the daughter of Donald and Frances (Perry) Knight. She was raised and educated in Brooklyn where she attended the Berkeley Carroll School. She was a graduate of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. She earned her Master's Degree of Education from Fairfield University and her Masters of the Natural Sciences Degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

She was a science educator for 20 years at Roger Ludlowe High School. She was also an adjunct professor of Environmental Ethics at Fairfield University and was employed by the Environmental Defense Fund and the Natural Resources Defense Council. She was a resident of Fairfield since 1953. She and her husband moved to Brooksby Village in Peabody in November of 2013.

Dillingham is survived by her husband, Attorney Bruce E. Dillingham; daughters, Ruth Dillingham (Robert) Curran of Hyannis, Laura Bibler (Gregory) of Andover and Sallie Bowling (Stuart) of Topsfield; eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; and brother, Donald Knight.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 1 at 11 a.m. in the First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield. Burial will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Huletts Landing, N.Y. in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Catherine's memory to The Fund for Lake George ( ).
