FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Chester "Chet" Joseph Bruzinski, a lifelong Fairfield resident, died Jan. 16. He was 87.
He was born March 16, 1925, in Pennsylvania to Valentine and Sophie Kordusiewski Brudzdienski. He served with the 8th Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II, flying 35 missions as a waist gunner on a B24. He received four Bronze Stars.
Bruzinski was employed by Neuss Flooring and was a member of Fairfield Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2. A lifelong member of Holy Family Church, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, fly-fishing, football, gardening and photography as well as spending time with his extended family.
Bruzinski is survived by two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bruzinski, of Fairfield, and Barbara Bruzinski, of Redding; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Raymond, Gene, Marion and Edward.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church in Fairfield. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield.
