Deborah Callan, 59, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Deborah Walsh Callan of Fairfield died Sept. 7 in Bridgeport, with family and friends by her side. She was 59. 

Born Dec. 14, 1952, in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of James and Therese Walsh. She was a lifelong Fairfield resident and a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in art and textile design. She was married to Ray J. Callan Jr., who predeceased her. 

Callan was a gourmet cook and professional recipe tester for various cooking publications. She was employed by the Connecticut Audubon Society as a site manager for the past several years. 

She was a member of the Fairfield Women's Club and Fayerweather Yacht Club and was also employed by the Fairfield Historical Society. 

Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home in Fairfield Center. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann's Church in Black Rock. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
