Dolores Quinlivan, 88, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Dolores Irene "Mingah" Quinlivan, 88, died on Sunday, March 1, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, Conn.

Born on Sept. 23, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a graduate of St, Joseph's College for Women in Brooklyn, and received her master's degree in early childhood development from Columbia University in New York City. She enjoyed the arts, antiquing and the occasional dirty martini.

She and her husband, Frank, raised their family in Fairfield, and she lived out her later years in Goshen and Redding, Conn.

She is survived by four children, Michael Quinlivan (Kelley) of Naples, Fla.; Margot Sherwin (Richard) of Guilford, Conn.; James "Jimmy" Quinlivan (Dolores) of Madison, Conn.; and Julie Gaffney (John) of Barrington, R.I.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  

She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Francis Michael Quinlivan, and a daughter  Irene "Bwana" Quinlivan.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St,, Guilford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be held privately at a later date in Goshen, Conn.
