Dorothy Aleta Sullivan Halas, 88, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Dorothy Aleta Sullivan Halas of Fairfield died Monday, Dec. 9. She was 88.

Halas was born Jan. 4, 1925, in Jackson Heights, N.Y.; daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Hurley Sullivan. She graduated from Rosemont College with a BA in Biology. After her marriage she and her husband raised their family in Chicago, Ill., and Morristown, N.J., and settled in Fairfield in 1958. Locally, she was a member of the Mothers' Guild of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and the Bellarmine Guild of Fairfield Prep, and served as troop leader and den mother for the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America.

Halas is survived by her children, Francis Peter, Jr. (Mary), Mary Elaine Scott (Tucker), Walter Patrick (Patrice), Dorothy Anne Pangrazio (Greg), Paul Joseph (Jacquelyn), Barbara Joan and Elizabeth Anne Lenz (Scott); 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Francis P. Halas; and sisters, Elaine Sullivan, Elizabeth Hager and Frances McClatchy.

Calling hours are Sunday, Dec. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Spear Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, CT 06824. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16 directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
