Dorothy Hunter Putney, 100, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Dorothy Hunter Putney, a Fairfield resident, died Thursday, Oct. 29. She was 100. 

She was a resident of Fairfield, for more than 50 years. She was born June 4, 1915, in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Ted and Velma Hunter. Putney married Charles B. Putney in October 1940. She was an active volunteer with The Fairfield Women's Exchange, voter registration and Mother's Against Drunk Driving. 

Putney is survived by her son, Charles Putney and his wife Gráinne of Shankill, Ireland; her daughter, Janice Putney of New York; and her three granddaughters; Charlene, Kathleen and Suzanne. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Putney, and her sister Elaine Eckerman. 

Her ashes will be buried next to her husband in Sheridan, Wyoming, where they first met.
