She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Anderson and Francis Demerest of Dallas, and grew up in Marysville, Ohio.

Kline earned her medical degree from Northwestern University in 1963, where she ranked first in her class.

She completed a residency in internal medicine at University Hospitals in Cleveland, followed by a fellowship in invasive cardiology at New York Hospital Cornell University Medical College.

Kline served many roles at New York Medical College, including senior associate dean for student affairs, interim dean of the medical school, vice president for medical affairs, vice provost of university student affairs, and executive vice dean of academic affairs.

She developed New York Medical College's first computerized student record system, and wrote numerous handbooks and bulletins that have been used as guides by thousands of students throughout their medical school years.

She also was instrumental in acquiring the cardiology patient simulator program, Harvey, at New York Medical College in 1999.

Kline also helped pave the way for women in the sport of sailing, one of her most treasured personal passions. She was among the first six women admitted to the Cruising Club of America in 1994, and became the first woman Commodore at Pequot Yacht Club on Southport Harbor.

Survivors include two sisters, Becky and Louise.

Her husband, Edward Kline, is deceased.

A memorial service will be held sometime this summer at Pequot Yacht Club in Southport.
