FAIRFIELD, Conn. Elizabeth Turko Magyar of Fairfield died July 18. She was 89.
Born and raised in Bridgeport, Magyar was a Fairfield resident for more than 60 years. She worked for the former Avco Lycoming Company for nearly 25 years before retiring. She was married to Anthony Magyar, who predeceased her.
Magyar was a longtime parishioner of St. Emery Church, where she belonged to the St. Emery Ladies Guild, Seniors Group and Sunshine Club. She enjoyed cooking and baking, entertaining and playing cards. She especially enjoyed trips to Europe and Hawaii.
She is survived by two daughters, Carole (John Thomas) Cox, of Newington, Conn., and Janet Magyar, of Fairfield; a sister, Nettie Nastu, of Fairfield; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased four sisters, Olga Grywalski, Mae Turko, Helen Ruis and Eugenia Sepiuk; her twin brother, Andrew; and three brothers, Anthony, Alexander and John Turko.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Emery Church in Fairfield. Lesko and Polke Funeral Home in Fairfield Center handled arrangements.
