FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Eloise Lashley Lorde Dowell of Fairfield died Monday, Sept. 22. She was 89.
Dowell was born Sept. 28, 1924, to Reverend Conrad Lashley and Laurie Harris Lashley in Stamford. She worked in her church as a musician and Sunday School teacher.
Dowell is survived by her sons, John Lorde (Lynn), Joel Lorde (Margo), Ronald Lorde (Blanche), and Eric Lorde; stepson, Ralph Dowell, Jr. (Faye); daughters, Harriett Powell and Patricia Eller (Ken); brothers, Edgar Lashley (Lorna) and Milton Lashley; sisters, Gladys Pittman, Lauretta Plummer (Walter), and Catherine Brown; friend, Inez Brandon; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews; cousins; and friends. She was predeceased by her parents.
Calling hours are Sunday, Sept. 28 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Ebenezer Gospel Assembly, 291 Bunnell St., Bridgeport. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 at the church, with Reverend Theodore Plummer, officiating. Interment will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Danville Memorial Gardens, 510 Church Ave., Danville, Va.
