He was born April 23, 1949, in Hungary, to Elizabeth Vass and the late Imre Vass.
Vass immigrated to the United States in 1971, soon opening a construction company.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his stepfather, Michael Balla of Daytona Beach, Fla.; his wife, Carol Vass of Fairfield; one daughter, Susan Vass of Branford; one stepdaughter, Karen Nerkowski of Bridgeport; one stepson, Brian Nerkowski of New York; two brothers, Michael Vass of Fairfield and Frank Vass of Sun City, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Joan (Michael) Cataldo of Shelton; and three grandchildren.
Two brothers, Milhaly and Imre Vass, preceded him in death.
Calling hours will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at St. Emery Church, 838 Kings Highway E., Fairfield.
Interment will be private.
