FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Florinda "Fina" Gonzalez, a longtime resident of Fairfield, died on Tuesday, March 15. She was 88.
Born in Bridgeport, Gonzalez was a retired benefits analyst for Warnaco. She was an avid Yankees and UCONN Huskies men's and women's basketball fan. She especially enjoyed playing cards with her lifelong friends.
She is survived by her niece Donna Koolis of Fairfield; nephew Jay Koolis and his wife Andrea of Glastonbury; great-nephews Bobby and Randy Koolis of Glastonbury; friend Cornelia Auray and her family; Betty Kressu, her friend of more than 75 years, and her family; and a number of godchildren, family, friends and neighbors.
Gonzalez was predeceased by her parents, Eltelvina and Demitrio Gonzalez, her sister Angeles Koolis, and brother-in-law John Koolis.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, with burial to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery.
