Frances Sorrentino Salce, 94, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Frances Sorrentino Salce, 94, of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Bridgeport on Sept. 24, 1920, the youngest of 10 children born to Michael and Lucia Camerota Sorrentino.

She was the wife of the late James P. Salce. She is survived by her children, James A. Salce and his wife Noreen of Fairfield, Patrick Salce and his wife Dawn of Manassas Va., Gary Salce and his wife Barbara of Fairfield, and David Salce of Fairfield, a niece and nephew, whom she helped raise, Anna Mary Faustine Janda and Kenneth Faustine, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many other nieces and nephews.

Her brothers, Christopher, Pat, Frank, Anthony and Benjamin Sorrentino and her sisters Lena LaMacchia, Josephine Peeso, Ann Catandella and Mae Watkins predeceased her.

A graduate of St. Vincent's School of Nursing, she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross during World War II. In 1960, her husband suffered a stroke. She then became a hairdresser and worked out of her home for many years.

Private family funeral services were conducted for Salce and entombment was in Mount Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.

Arrangements were entrusted to Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull.
