Breaking News: Fairfield County Woman, 40, Sentenced To Prison For Two Fraud Schemes

George Albrecht, 90, Fairfield Pen Manufacturer

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – George "Red" J. Albrecht of Fairfield died Oct. 15. He was 90.

Born March 5, 1922, in Bedford, Ohio, he was the son of G.J. and Ann Albrecht. A Fairfield resident since 1965, Albrecht served in the Army Transportation Corps during World War II, achieving the rank of captain.

He graduated from Miami University of Oxford, Ohio, and married his wife, Dorothy, four days later, on June 13, 1947. Albrecht's business career spanned many years in the manufacturing of felt-tip markers. He owned his a business, Almar Industries, from 1960 to 1972.

Albrecht is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. Albrecht; three children, Dave (Lorraine) Albrecht, of Fairfield, Janis Albrecht, of Gaysville, Vt., and Scott (Jane) Albrecht, of Newtown; and five granddaughters, two great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Peggy; and a brother, Bill.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church. Interment will be private. Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield is handling arrangements.
