Blewitt was born in New York City, to Ernest and Elizabeth Carreras. She had been a Southport resident for the last 55 years. She graduated Cum Laude from Good Counsel College in White Plains with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. She worked in New York City and Chicago prior to her marriage. She returned to work as assistant comptroller and credit manager for the Jelliff Corporation in Southport. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church where she recently was appointed trustee for the Ladies Guild and was active in prayer groups. She also was a member of the Gaelic American Club and many years previously, the AAUW, where she served as treasurer.
Blewitt is survived by her children, Denise B. Floyd (William) of Towson, Md., Diane B. Camillo (Gary) of Fairfield, Roy E. Blewitt, III (Deborah) of Louisville, Ky., Donna J. Blewitt of Southport and Mary E. Blewitt of Middletown; brother, E. Robert Carreras (Sharon) of Park Forest, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Roy; twin brother, Robert Carreras; and brother, William Carreras.
Calling hours are Monday, Nov. 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. meeting directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. A private interment will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
