FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Hafiz Muhammad Saifullah Seyal of Fairfield died Friday, July 26. He was , 62.
Seyal was born in Multan, Pakistan in 1950. He was the first Imam of the Islamic Community of Fairfield County (ICFC). After immigrating to America, his first residence was in Bridgeport before moving to Fairfield. He was a former employee of Dictaphone and Pitney-Bowes of Stamford.
Seyal is survived by his wife, Mahirah Seyal of Fairfield; son, Zakee (Alison) Seyal of New York City; daughter, Sadaf (Jan) Mohammad of Fairfield; three grandchildren; brothers, Karim (Monika) Seyal of Trumbull; Abdul Rahim (Razia) Seyal of Southport; sister, Azizah Shakir of Palm Bay, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Hilal Karim of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, Parveen K Seyal of Waterbury. He was predeceased by his siblings, M. Asad Seyal of Wolcott, Hafiz M. A. Karim of Edinburgh, Scotland,and Kaneez F Sumra of Bridgeport.
Calling hours are July 29 after Zuhuhr at 1:30 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home. A Muslim funeral service (Janaza Prayer) will be performed by the Hafiz Abdul Salam Sumra at An-Noor Mosque, 1300 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06605. Interment (Muslim Burial) will follow at Old Pine Grove Cemetery, 850 Meriden Road, Waterbury, CT 06705 (203-753-0776).
