James Capone, 83, Of Fairfield, Korean War Veteran

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - James Anthony Capone, 83, of Fairfield, died on Friday, March 13.

He was born April 20, 1931, in Camden, N.J., to Anthony and Theresa Capone of Philadelphia.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Capone had a long and illustrious career in media, which began at TV Guide in 1958. He went to work at the CBS and NBC TV affiliates in Philadelphia throughout the 1960s and 1970s, working closely with celebrities throughout the entertainment industry, including personalities such as Mike Douglas and Tom Snyder.

He moved to Connecticut in the late 1970s, where he was director of marketing at Timex. He later went on to start his own event marketing and consulting company.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; four daughters, Lisa Capone (Thomas Barratt), Angela (Robert) Capone-Rauscher, Maria (Hilar) Kivi, and Pamela (Vincent) Capone-LaManna; and one grandchild.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be planned in the coming months.
