Flanagan was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Bridgeport, to Mary A. (Conroy) and Michael J. Flanagan. He was a resident of Fairfield for the past 60 years. He was a life member of the Stratfield Volunteer Fire Department and an honorary member of the Board of Directors. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Fairfield.
Flanagan is survived by his sister, Marie F. Halstead of Bridgeport; brother-in-law, Ralph J. Money Jr. of Bridgeport; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; and several great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents; siblings, Margaret M. (Peggy) Flanagan, Atty. Bernard J. Flanagan, John M. Flanagan, USAF, Irene F. Reynolds, T. Dorothy Money, and Agnes C. Flanagan, nephews Patrick J. Flanagan, John Paul Flanagan; niece, Patricia Ford Money; and grand-niece, Lauren Agnes Leonard.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, celebrated by Jimmy's cousin, Monsignor Michael T. Flanagan and Father Peter Cipriani. Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
