Jean Yovan, 92, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Jean Olah Yovan of Fairfield died Oct. 21 at Carolton Convalescent Home in Fairfield. She was 92.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, Yovan lived in Fairfield for 50 years before moving to Vero Beach, Fla., and returning to Fairfield six years ago. She graduated from Central High School in 1938 and worked for Remington Arms and Sikorsky Aircraft as an executive secretary.

Yovan studied ballet at the George Voladin Dance Studio and was a member of the Patterson Country Club. An accomplished golfer and bowler, she enjoyed competing with family and friends and participating in local tournaments. She was also a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Yovan is survived by her daughter, Diane (John) Desmond, of Fairfield; three grandsons and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, George Yovan; and two brothers, John and Charles Olah.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church. Interment will be private. Lesko and Polke Funeral Home in Fairfield Center is handling arrangements.
