Jerome Scicutella, 85, Fairfield Truck Driver

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Jerome "Jerry" Scicutella of Fairfield died Tuesday, Sept. 25, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. He was 85. 

Born Oct. 23, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Paolo and Francesca Scicutella. He lived in Richmond Hill, Queens, before moving to Fairfield 18 years ago. As a young man, Scicutella took over his family's ice business. 

He then worked as a truck driver for Costikyan Restoration in Long Island City, N.Y., where the Employee of the Year Award was named in his honor for his more than 40 years of service. 

Scicutella was married to Anne Ferrandino Scicutella for more than 47 years and was a member of Societa M.S. Maria SS. Del Buoncammino di Altamura.  

He is survived by his wife, Anne; two daughters, Francesca (Steve) DeMaria and Nancy Scicutella, both of Fairfield; a son, Paul John Scicutella, of Fairfield; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Scicutella is also survived by his twin brother, Nicholas (Betty) Scicutella, of Sound Beach, N.Y.; two sisters, Mary Scicutella and Jean Gambino, both of North Bellmore, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Sophia Scicutella, of Seldon, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters and a brother. 

Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. Saturday from Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Fairfield. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
