FAIRFIELD, Conn. - John A. Rehanek of Fairfield died Wednesday, Oct.16. He was 87.
Rehanek was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Manhattan, N.Y., son of Anton and Anna Rehanek. He had been a Fairfield resident for the last 40 years. He served as a radioman in the United States Navy on board the USS Alamance during World War II. Following his naval service he graduated from Manhattan College. He was in the reinsurance business, retiring as an executive for the General Reinsurance Corporation. He was a parishioner at St. Thomas Aquinas Church where he was a member of the Men's League and served as an usher for 30 years.
Rehanek is survived by his daughter, Jane Limperopulos (Bill); a granddaughter, all of Fairfield; and sister, Rose Hudecek of Jewett, N.Y. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Margaret (Peggy) Rehanek; and son, John A. Rehanek.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 21 at 10:30 a.m. meeting directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Fairfield. Entombment will private in St. Thomas Cemetery.
