John Carnicky Jr., 71, Of Fairfield, National Guard Army Veteran

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- John Joseph Carnicky Jr., 71, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, after battling cancer.

Born March 24, 1943, in Bridgeport, Carnicky graduated the electrical course at Bullard Havens Technical High School in 1962. That July he began a 40-year career as an installer for AT&T.

He also served as a private in the National Guard Army Division from 1964-73.

His parents, John and Emma Scalo Carnicky, and his sister, Jeanne, are deceased.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, in St. Augustine's Cathedral, 359 Washington Ave. Bridgeport.

Interment will follow in the Lawncroft Cemetery, 1740 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield.

There will be no calling hours.

Parente-Lauro Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling the arrangements.
