FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- John Joseph McFarland, Jr., 81, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Carolyn McFarland, passed away suddenly July 7, 2015.
McFarland was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Bridgeport, to the late John Joseph McFarland & Helen Flannery McFarland.
He was a 1951 graduate of Fairfield College Preparatory School and attended Fairfield University before serving in the U.S. Army for two years.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
He is predeceased by his sister Joan McFarland. In addition to his loving wife of 55 years Carolyn, he leaves behind his four children and their spouses, Susan Lewicki and her husband James Lewicki of Trumbull; Karen Webb and her husband William Webb Jr. of Shelton; John McFarland III and his wife Norma McFarland of Monroe; Bridget Healey and her husband Andrew Healey of Trumbull and eight grandchildren, Will and Justin Webb; Kelly, Kenzie, Megan and Abby McFarland; Gwenevere and Derek Healey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church, Fairfield.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-8pm. Sunday at Spear- Miller Funeral Home, 39 S. Benson Road, Fairfield.
