He was born in Stanislaw, Poland, to Lucas and Helen Pijksi.
He was a World War II veteran of the 2nd Corps Motorized Division of the Polish Command in Warsaw, and a veteran of the Battle of Monte Cassino in Italy, where he was awarded two Gold Stars for valor and distinguished service. After the war, Pijski settled in Wales, where he worked as an ambulance driver for Penley Polish Hospital No. 3. It was there that he would meet his future wife, Wladyslawa, in 1947. They married on Oct. 30, 1948, at the Cathedral of Wrexham in Wales.
They arrived in the U.S. in 1952 and moved to Manchester, N.H., before relocating to Bridgeport. the same year. He worked at Bridgeport Brass and J. Lucas and Son before transferring to Lacey Manufacturing. At Lacey, Pijski worked his way up to supervisor of maintenance, a position held for 27 years until his retirement in 1988.
He loved the game of dominoes, soccer, WWE wrestling, his garden and spoiling his "granddogs" Marley and Bella.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wladyslawa; his daughter, Christine DiNardo and her husband, Salvatore; two granddaughters; and two great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, John Pijksi.
Calling hours will take place on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at Frank Radozycki and Sons Funeral Home, 305 Pulaski St., Bridgeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 11 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Church followed by burial in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford, Conn.
