Joseph Michalek Jr.

DANBURY, Conn. – Joseph S. Michalek Jr., formerly of Fairfield, died Aug. 19 at his home in Danbury, with his wife and family by his side. He was 49. 

Michalek was born Oct. 7, 1962, in Bridgeport to Nellie Michalek of Southport and the late Joseph S. Michalek Sr. He graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and the Connecticut School of Electronics. 

He worked as operations manager for Vision Engineering Corp. Michalek's family said that one of his greatest accomplishments was competing in and finishing two Ironman triathlons. 

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Iorio, Josephine, two sons, Joseph M. Michalek and Christopher M. Michalek, of Brookfield, Conn.; two sisters, Diane (Harry) Soreca, of Fairfield and Michele (Gerald) Poirier, of Stratford; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. 

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Green Funeral Home in Danbury. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association or Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 405 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810.
