FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Joseph Francis Nemeth, 98, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Jan. 24.
Born in Fairfield, he was the son of the late John and Mary Nemeth. He had been a Fairfield resident for most of his life. Nemeth enlisted in U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Newfoundland. He was a retired machinist for Bridgeport Machines. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and cooking, as well as gardening and raising vegetables and flowers. Nemeth spent summers in Belgrade Lake, Maine, and winters playing golf in Tequesta, Fla.
He is survived by his two children, Alan Nemeth and his wife, Sheila, and Laura Burr of Fairfield; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the husband of the late Mary Lorinc Nemeth. He was also predeceased by one brother and one sister.
A funeral service took place on Monday, Feb. 2, at St. John's Cemetery in Stratford, Conn.
