Josephine Laska, Longtime Fairfield Resident, 90

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Josephine (Meriano) Laska, a Bridgeport native and longtime Fairfield resident, died in Southport on Sunday, Feb. 15. She was 90.

Born in Bridgeport to the late Domenic and Mary (Della Russo) Meriano, she was a longtime Fairfield resident.

Prior to her retirement, she was an assembler at Remington Shavers. Mrs. Laska enjoyed playing golf at Smith Richardson with her husband; loved to bowl at Nutmeg Lanes; liked to play bingo; and was a devout parishioner of Holy Family Church.

Laska is survived by her brother, Vincent Meriano of Texas; her sister, Theresa Kaufman of Virginia Beach, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Frank Laska, she was predeceased by her seven brothers and sisters.

Friends are invited to visit with her family on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road, Fairfield Center, and attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull.
