Josephine M. Castaldo, 95, Former Longtime Fairfield Resident

JUNO BEACH, Fla. - Josephine (Lanese) Castaldo of Juno Beach, formerly of Fairfield, died Tuesday, Nov. 25. She was 95.

Castaldo was born April 3, 1919, in Bridgeport, to Katherine and Thomas Lanese. She graduated from The College of New Rochelle in 1940 and majored in French which she later taught. Prior to moving to Juno Beach in 1980 she was a longtime resident of Fairfield and member of Brooklawn Country Club and The Bridgeport Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

Castaldo is survived by her brother, Thomas Lanese Jr., of Fairfield; sons, James of New York, Louis and Richard of Colorado; daughter, Marianne of Fairfield; daughter-in-law, Bozena; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Nick Lanese; and husband, Dr. Louis F. Castaldo.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery on Dewey Street in Bridgeport.
