She was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Hoboken, N.J. and grew up in Bridgeport with her parents, George and Alexandra (Delamanaras) Lekas, and her three siblings, Irene, Theresa and Peter.

Several years after graduating from Central High School, she wed Philip Daston Aug. 18, 1946, and raised two daughters during their 34 years of marriage.

In 1989, she established a companionship with Anast Kaklamanos, which continued throughout the rest of her life.

Daston was a homemaker while her children were young. After her daughters grew up, she worked as a sales associate in high-end retail stores — an ideal job for a lady who always was in good style and passionate about shopping. In her later years, she spent every Saturday shopping with her youngest daughter.

She loved musicals and theater, and she loved to watch her grandchildren perform.

The Greek Orthodox Church and community at large was a second family to her. Her religious beliefs and traditions played an important role throughout her lifetime.

She is survived by her two daughters, Janet Christon and Alexandra (Sandy) Richardson, who is married to David Richardson; six grandchildren, Katina Kontorouhas (Emanuel), Evan Christon (Lisa), Philip Christon (Danielle), Alexander Christon (Christine), Lorin Richardson Aloe (Rocco) and Nicoletta Richardson; and five great-grandchildren, Athena Christon, Zena Kontorouhas, Kiki Kontorouhas, Niko Christon and Jack Christon.

Friends are invited to attend a “Rite of Burial” at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave., Bridgeport with Father Georgios Livaditis Presbyter officiating followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.

Calling hours will take place on from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport with Trisagion services at 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

If desired, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in her memory.
