Louis Kocsis, 96, Fairfield WWII Veteran

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Louis Kocsis of Fairfield died Oct. 20. He was 96. 

Born Oct. 3, 1916, in Bridgeport, he was the son of John and Elizabeth Timko Kocsis. He spent his early years in Hungary, returning to his hometown when he was 10. Kocsis moved to Fairfield when he married Anna Balint 74 years ago. 

During World War II, he served in the Army. He later served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Kocsis worked for the Bridgeport Brass Co. for 44 years until his retirement. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Coleman Council of Fairfield. 

Kocsis is survived by his wife; a son, Louis (Mary); a daughter, Joan Kocsis; a grandson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Kocsis; two brothers, Andrew and John Kocsis; and a sister, Margaret Nagy. 

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lesko and Polke Funeral Home in Fairfield Center, with a service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made to St. Emery Church, 838 Kings Highway East, Fairfield, CT 06824.
