Margaret Groholy, 82, Formerly Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Margaret "Peggy" M. Nealy Groholy of Fairfield died Nov. 13 in Palm Springs, Calif., where she lived with her son. She was 82.

Groholy was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Bridgeport to James and Marie Post Nealy. She graduated from Central High School and held several secretarial and retail positions. She retired as a hostess from The Huntington Inn in Bridgeport in 1985.

An avid reader and crossword puzzler, Groholy loved annual trips to The Red Lion Inn with her daughter and visiting Palm Springs to see her son. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. She was known as "Meams" to her grandsons.

She is survived by a son, Thomas M. Groholy; a daughter, Barbara (Thomas) Morra Pace; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Groholy and Mary Ondov; two grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Jennie Bertanza. She was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Groholy.

Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lesko and Polke Funeral Home in Fairfield Center. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home and 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Fairfield. Burial will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield.

Memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Church in Fairfield. Flowers may be ordered at the funeral home website.
