Margaret 'Peggy' Brenton, 76, Southport Resident, Interior Designer

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Margaret "Peggy" Brenton, a Southport resident, died on Oct. 4 after a battle with cancer. She was 76.

Brenton ran a successful, full-service interior design firm for 20 years. She was on the board of the Sasquanaug Association for Southport Improvement, the chairperson of the Sea Lodge Beach Club in Southport for 30 years, and was also on the advisory committee for the Sea Scout Ship #84 based at Trinity Church in Southport.

She is survived by her sister, Susan Ryan Ford; three children, U.S. Navy Capt. Kevin R. Brenton, (Ret.), U.S. Air Force Col. D. Scott Brenton, (Ret.), and Jacqueline A. Iodice; and five grandchildren, R. Cutter Brenton, Jennifer R. Brenton, Rachel N. Brenton, Thomas R. Iodice and Nicole A. Iodice. 

Brenton was predeceased by her husband John J. Brenton; and a brother, Timothy William Ryan.

Calling hours at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield Center, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m., directly at St. Luke Church in Westport, followed by interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.
