Martha S. Jacob, 85, Of Fairfield, First Grade Teacher At St. Pius X School

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Martha Stanton Jacob, a longtime Fairfield resident, died Oct. 27. She was 85.

Jacob was born Jan. 5, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., to John Earl Stanton and Ella Casey Stanton. She graduated from St. Xavier Academy in Chicago, Ill., and Trinity College in Washington, DC. After marriage she moved with her family to Towson, Md., then to Garden City, N.Y., and finally to Fairfield, where she lived for the last 45 years. She received a Masters Degree in Education from Fairfield University and was a first grade teacher at St. Pius X School in Fairfield for many years. She left to be an office manager at Russo Associates, a real estate agent for Richter Real Estate until her retirement. She was a eucharistic minister at St. Pius X Church for many years.

Jacob is survived by her children, John Jacob (Jo Anne), Casey Jacob, Sally Jacob Pierson (Ernie), Peter Jacob (Roseanne), Paul Jacob (Ann Stapleton) Jacob, Mary Ann Jacob (Bruce) Lafky, and Mimi Jacob (Steve) Straborny; and 13 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John McMullen Jacob.

Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 30 S Benson Road, Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Oct. 31, 2014 at 11 a.m. meeting directly at St. Pius X Church with interment to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
