Mary Draper Biehn, 96, Of Fairfield, WWII Nurse In Yukon Territory

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Mary Draper Biehn of Fairfield died March 6. She was 96.

Biehn was a registered nurse who graduated from Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in 1938. After working for the Fairfield Visiting Nurses, she worked with her husband, Dr. Donald M. Biehn, MD, in his private practice for many years.

During WW II, she traveled with her husband who was a captain in the Medical Corps. She was posted in the Yukon Territory in Canada where she was able to do public health nursing. She was a volunteer at Bridgeport Hospital for many years and also volunteered at First Church Congregational in Fairfield. She was a member and former officer of the Southport Women's Club.

Biehn is survived by her daughter, Mary Biehn Enos (Timothy); a grandson; many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, her son, Donald Malcolm Biehn, and her brother, Dr. Andrew Draper.


Calling hours are March 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, Conn. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Spear-Miller with internment to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
