FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Michael K. Wolfer died Oct. 12. He was 85.
Wolfer was born April 16, 1928, to Norma Ames in Warsaw, N. Y. He graduated from Ithaca College, pursued a Master's degree from Fairfield University and his sixth year from University of Bridgeport. He was a principal, English Department Head and drama director at Masuk High School in Monroe and director of the CAPSULE program at Fairfield Preparatory school. He retired after 42 years in education. After he retired in 1994, he was ordained as a deacon and served at St. Stephen's in Trumbull and St. Ambrose in Bridgeport. He also worked at St. Vincent's hospital.
Wolfer is survived by his companion, Helen Honorowski; children, Julie Wolfer and her partner Ellie, Jill Kassim and her partner John and former husband Sal Kassim and Kurt Wolfer (Donna); and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce.
Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, 6948 Main St., Trumbull, CT 06611. Interment will be private.
