Nicholas A. Lapetina, 88, Of Fairfield, Retired NYSE Employee

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Nicholas A. Lapetina of Fairfield died Tuesday, Dec. 24. He was 88.

Lapetina was born and raised in the Bronx, N.Y., he attended DeWitt Clinton High School. Following graduation he began his career working on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. He continued working at the NYSE until his retirement at the age of 60.

He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Following the death of his wife in 1993, he began to volunteer at the Fairfield Senior Center where he continued his service for 14 years. He also worked in the kitchen at the Center. From 2000 to 2010 he was a member of the Emmaus Community at Holy Family Church. He and his daughter, Geraldine volunteered for Literacy Volunteers of America from 2007 to 2012.

Lapetina is survived by his daughter, Geraldine; sister, Marie Kraljic of Bogota, N.J.; two nephews, a niece; cousins; and close friends, Mary Sych of Fairfield, Gregory Patti (Audrey). He was predeceased by wife, Helen Lapetina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 30 at 10 a.m. meeting directly at Holy Family Church, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.
