Rev. Harry D. Baldwin, 89, Former Native Of Fairfield, WWII Veteran

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Rev. Harry Denison Baldwin of Bridgeport, a native of Fairfield, died Nov. 6. He was 89.

Rev. Baldwin was born April 28, 1925, in Bridgeport, to George Hinman and Beatrice Jones Baldwin. He was raised in Fairfield, graduated from Mercersburg Academy and served 18 months in the Navy during World War II. He attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and graduated from Williams College. He then graduated from Andover Newton Theological Seminary and was ordained in the United Church of Christ in 1963. He served congregations in Irvington, N.J., Lykens Valley, Pa., Newfane, Vt., and Trumbull. He grew up in the United Congregational Church, Bridgeport and returned there after retiring from the ministry.

Rev. Baldwin is survived by a cousin, Mildreth George of Stamford; five nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, George and Thomas; and niece, Pamela.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Harry's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 at United Congregational Church, 877 Park Ave., Bridgeport. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Baldwin's name to the United Congregational Church, 877 Park Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06604.
