Richard Joseph Magdon, 66, Longtime Fairfield Prep Coach

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Former Fairfield Prep coach Richard Joseph Magdon, of Ansonia, Conn., died on Saturday, April 23. He was 66.

He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., on Aug. 3, 1949 to Joseph and Josephine (Creddo) Magdon.

He was a graduate of Fairfield University and worked as a teacher, administrator and coach at Fairfield Prep.

After beginning as an assistant football coach, Magdon became head coach at Fairfield Prep and finished with a record of 96-69-2, including a victory against Cheshire High School in 1996 to end that school's 49-game winning streak.

He was predeceased by his wife, Julie Tuttle Magdon.

He is survived by his son, Jayme Tuttle Sr. and several grandchildren.

Visitation is on Thursday, April 28, from 3-7 p.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., in Bridgeport. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
