FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Rita M. Bailie, a lifelong resident of Fairfield, died on Feb. 29.

Bailie was a graduate of St. Vincent's School of Nursing. During her career, she worked as a nurse at various hospitals in New York and Connecticut.

She was a typical Italian dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who had an immense love for her family. She was an avid baker and made the best broccoli bread around. Bailie loved watching UConn basketball and NFL football.

She was a lifelong member of St. Emery's Parish.

Bailie is survived by her sons, Scott T. Bailie (Sandi) of Fairfield and Michael W. Bailie (Nancy) of Columbia, S.C.; and four granddaughters, five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, A. William Bailie, her parents, Carmella (Mary) and Michael Gilberti. .

Friends may greet the family on Friday, March 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. in in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and at 10 a.m. at St. Emery's Church, Fairfield. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.
