He was a son of late Robert N. Jones of Fairfield and Vivian Jones of Green Acres, Fla.
Jones graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School. He worked at Perkin-Elmer for almost 30 years.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Nancy A. Jones; one daughter, Tracey (Steve) Palazzo of Enfield; four sons, Michael Jones of Enfield, Robert Jones, Nicholas Jones, and Scott Jones, all of Fairfield; two brothers, Thomas Jones and Timothy Jones, both of Green Acres, Fla.; three sisters, Vivian Duncan of Fairfield, Jill Popowich of North Carolina, and Nancy Seaman of West Palm Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Jones also is survived by his former wife, Patricia (Tucker) Shaw of Enfield
A daughter, Stephanie Jones, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield.
Interment will be private.
Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield is handling the arrangements.
