Ron Lovelett, 64, Of Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Ron Lovelett, of the Black Rock section in Bridgeport and formerly of Waterbury, died at home Monday, Jan. 5. He was 64.

He was born in White Plains, N.Y., to William and Gladys (Fairbrother) Lovelett. He grew up in Fairfield and eventually moved to Waterbury for many years. He recently relocated back to Black Rock, where he loved to spend time at St. Mary's by the Sea. He received a bachelor's degree in counselling from Southern Connecticut State University and he went on to specialize in substance abuse counseling and worked for many years at the Guenster Rehabilitation Center & Regional Network of Programs Inc. in Bridgeport. 

A member of AA, Lovelett was grateful to be sober for more than 35 years and passionate about helping others discover a better life. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Fairfield. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, especially Harley-Davidson, and he was also a fan of the New York Giants and classic rock 'n' roll.

He is survived by his brothers, Thomas "Toby" Lovelett and his wife, Karen, of Fairfield, James Lovelett of Kent, and William Lovelett and his wife, Melinda, of Southbury; and  nieces and nephews, Erin (Max) Zietz, Danielle, Chris, Sarah, Heather, Ryan and Bevin. 

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 8, from 4-8 p.m., at Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road, Fairfield Center. The funeral will be Friday, Jan. 9, at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Henry Brehm officiating. Burial will follow in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y.
