Rose Mazi, 100, Former Fairfield Resident

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Rose Mazi, of Fort Pierce, formerly of Fairfield, died Monday, Sept. 8. She was 100.

Mazi was born Feb. 14, 1914, in Hungary. Her parents were Joseph and Elizabeth Gaal Kerstner, and her siblings were Elizabeth Socker, Anna Szemoek, Joseph Kerstner, and Martin Kerstner. She was married to Ernst Mazi. After the war she and her family lived in Germany, and in 1956 immigrated to America, settling in Fairfield to be with extended family. She made her home there.

Mazi is survived by her daughters, Hedwig O 'Grady of Fort Pierce and Elvira Robinson (Rob) of Carmel, Calif.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield, with Father Michael Dogali officiating. Entombment will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery's Garden Mausoleum, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Ernst. A celebration of Rose's life for family and friends will be held following the service.
